FAQ

Please see below for answers to some of our frequently asked questions:

What to Do If Your Child is Unwell

  • If you're unsure whether your child is well enough for pre-school, please contact us before bringing them in. You can also refer to the helpful NHS website here for further information.

  • If your child has a sickness bug, they should stay at home for 48 hours after their last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.

  • If your child becomes unwell while at pre-school, we will call you to come and collect them.

  • We are able to administer medicine under your guidance, so please discuss any medication needs with us.

What to Pack in Your Child's Pre-School Bag

All children will need:

  • 2x full changes of clothes, including socks

  • Sun hat

  • Waterproof coat

  • Water bottle

  • Packed lunch, if you haven't ordered a hot lunch.

Babies and some toddlers will also need:

  • Nappies and wipes

  • Bottom cream

  • Comforters

  • Milk bottles with formula or breast milk

PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS

Sleeping Arrangements

  • We have cots, pushchairs, and fold-out beds, which are suitable from 12 months.

  • We aim to replicate your child's home sleep routine.

Breastfeeding

  • While we will provide support, please plan for your child to have a day away from breastfeeding. Consider alternatives like bottle-feeding, expressing milk, or using a beaker. You can find more advice here.

Booking a Space

  • To secure your child's place, contact us for a visit and a chat.

  • You will need to submit a completed registration form along with a start date.

  • Spaces fill quickly, especially for children aged 2 and under, so we advise you complete the process as quickly as possible.

Minimum Sessions

  • We recommend a minimum of two mornings a week to help your child settle at pre-school.

Settling In

  • Every child is different; some adjust quickly, while others need a gradual approach. We'll work with you to accommodate your child's needs.

  • Please say goodbye to your child instead of sneaking away, and reassure them that you'll return later.

Addressing Concerns

  • Please discuss any concerns with your child's keyworker and if necessary, contact the Manager.

  • If you remain unsatisfied, please consult our complaints procedure policy here.

Food at Pre-School

  • We maintain a snack list in the entrance hall, and parents can sign up to bring in snacks.

  • You can order hot lunches by sending us an email here.

Toilet Facilities

  • We have child-sized toilets with training seats and potties and along with an accessible toilet.

Reusable Nappies

  • We welcome the use of reusable nappies and will follow your home routines.
